What we offer

According to international ratings and classification, our restaurant is a fine dining restaurant. Our dishes are always prepared from fresh, seasonal, preferably domestic ingredients. At the Onyx Restaurant, half-forgotten, traditional local flavours have been rethought and combined with international flavours to create attractively presented dishes prepared using the latest technologies.

At our restaurant we prefer to show off our tasting menus; therefore we offer a 3, 4 and 6 course menu for lunch; while for dinner a 6 course Hungarian Evolution menu or an 8 course Chef menu are available. It is by tasting these meals that our guests get a complete picture of the cuisine we offer. Please be so kind to order the same menu for the entire table.

Because we would like our guests to try everything that is served from beginning to end, we have sized our portions accordingly. The menus and individual food items are prepared so that they harmonize with one another. We ask you, therefore, to trust our colleagues’ expertise when it comes to recommendations concerning food combinations or order of service.

The Onyx Restaurant wishes to provide its guests with a gastronomic experience. This means that dinner meals can last as long as 2, 3, or even 4 hours.

Table reservations

To avoid disappointment, please reserve a table prior to your arrival at the restaurant. You can make reservations on our website. Please note that we can only accept same- day internet reservations until 11:30 a.m. for lunch, and until 5:30 p.m. for dinner. We ask our guests to attend at the reserved time. If you know you will be late, please inform us, otherwise, we can only hold tables for 20 minutes.   We kindly ask our guests to arrive until 1:30 p.m. for lunch, and until 8:30 p.m. for dinner, at the latest. If anyone in your party is allergic or sensitive to a particular food or drink, please inform us when making the reservation.

Service charge

A 15 % service fee is added to the price of meals.

Parking

The restaurant is located in the heart of the city, in the pedestrian zone of Budapest’s business district. Car traffic in the area around the restaurant is restricted. If you are coming by car in the evening, we can arrange a parking space for you for up to three hours in the parking garage of the Vörösmarty Office Building. From the direction of Széchenyi Square, the parking garage can be reached by taking Apáczai Csere János Street to Deák Ferenc Street. Please let us know when you make your reservation if you will need a parking space.

Please do not bring your four-legged friends, as our restaurant is not equipped to accommodate small animals.

Smoking

The Onyx Restaurant is about culinary enjoyment, about treating the senses. Our primary focus is on flavours, aromas, and harmony. This is irreconcilable with tobacco smoke; therefore, in keeping with international trends and our own values, our restaurant is non-smoking.

Children

In our experience, young children are not capable of enjoying a culinary journey that may last 3 – 4 hours. If possible, please arrange for child-minding or babysitting services for the time you plan to spend at our restaurant.

Hours

Since our fine dining restaurant offers principally main meals to the guests, our opening hours are set accordingly. The Onyx Restaurant welcomes its guest for lunch from Thursday to Saturday from 12:00 p.m. (latest arrival 1:30 p.m.), while for dinner from Tuesday to Saturday from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. (latest arrival 8:30 p.m.).

Holidays

At the Onyx Restaurant, we constantly work to refine every aspect of our services so that we are able to offer our guests a world-class gastronomic experience. One of the most important aspects of quality is continuity. For this reason we are closed on Sunday and Monday, so that during the rest of the week our permanent restaurant and kitchen staffs can devote even more attention to our guests. For the same reason, the restaurant is closed for two weeks in January and for three weeks in August, so that our colleagues can re-energize themselves and take part in professional courses and programs.
